Sharing Information

One of the great things about the CODI Users Group is the ability to share problems, concerns and solutions with other users.

What is shared is up to you. Anything that might be of interest to others is welcome from brochures or guides to electronic files containing useful scripts and reports. Some specific suggestions that have been requested are:

These are just a few of the possibilities. There may be lots of others. So, give it some thought and see what you may have that would be of interest to others.

Please send electronic files to Frances Orton at codioffice@att.net for inclusion in the sharing information section of the CODI Users Group Web site.

WARNING: All electronic files have been made available by member libraries and have been written based on THEIR databases and THEIR experiences. ALL files should be checked to determine their appropriateness for use at another site. NO GUARANTEES are made about the safety of running any of the queries included here against your database.

Sharing Table

The following files have been submitted by member libraries:

Creating a Table with Reconstructed Titles Details the procedures to create a table containing bib# and title_reconstructed fields to display human-friendly versions of titles without needing client-side macros. Includes trigger modifications to title triggers necessary to maintain table entries. Replaces ALA-encoded diacritics and special characters commonly used at PRL with characters that display in reporting structure. YMMV.

Workslip Report [INCLUDES: The workslip is used as a routing slip to follow a title through Cataloging and Physical Processing. The date of receipt is at the top which helps us keep the books in order so that they can be found easily while they are being processed. We have a backlog so this is important. The workslip also includes "internal notes" which frequently include special cataloging instructions. Finally the workslip has the location and fund code for each copy which tells us, for example, that this book is to be cataloged for the Northeast Branch and that it should go in the Reference Collection. There are many other pieces of information on this workslip that are helpful. It basically includes just about everything that is on the order record.]
