Symphony's Embedded Oracle Database 2010 Joint Conference / Orlando, FL |
President's Letter: What the CODI Board has been up to! CODI/UUGI Merger Merger plans with UUGI (Unicorn Users Group, Inc.) are moving along and we plan to set up a merger
wiki so that CODI members can easily follow our progress. We are in the information gathering stage; the two groups are sharing key documents (bylaws,
articles of incorporation, Board minutes, etc.) so that those on the joint merger planning committee have a better understanding of how each non-profit
operates. The current plan is to have the merger completed by the 2009 Joint Conference in Dallas (April 6-8, 2009 at the Adams Mark Hotel). If you have any questions about our merger plans, you can contact either Chris Hauser (chauser@weber.edu) or me (terlaga@biblio.org). The CODI Board is also working on the following in 2008: Joint Enhancements Process Committee with UUGI and SirsiDynix
The committee has met twice this year and we've made some good progress in the following areas: Horizon customers will be able to register for the UUGI lists and forums beginning sometime
in late April/early May, as soon as the customer list has been added to the SirsiDynix ClientCare portal. More information about this registration process is
coming soon. The most up-to-date CODI Enhancements list for Horizon has been shared with both SirsiDynix staff and
UUGI Forum Moderators. Berit Nelson, VP of Technical Product Management, and her team are going through this enhancements list and will identify those enhancements
already included in Symphony and those that will be included in version 3.3, scheduled for release in first quarter, 2009. A listing of these enhancements will be
provided to the CODI membership sometime in late April.
Third Party Products Compatibility Survey of Membership in preparation for a Symphony move This survey has already been sent out to the membership. The results are being summarized so that they can be shared with SirsiDynix. Embedded Oracle Whitepapers Committee to answer your functionality questions Colleen Medling, CODI Past-President, has spearheaded this committee. They have produced a very comprehensive list of questions regarding the possible functionality issues when comparing Symphony (with embedded Oracle) and Horizon. They've asked SirsiDynix staff to respond to this document with a whitepaper. As soon as this is completed, it will be shared with the membership. Amy Terlaga, CODI President terlaga@biblio.org
